Assessment Only Route to QTS

Assessing Teaching. Awarding Status.

If you’re already teaching and have substantial classroom experience, Equalitas offers the Assessment Only route as a structured pathway to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Route is designed for unqualified teachers already employed in schools, who can demonstrate that they meet the Teachers’ Standards in full – without the need for additional training.

We work closely with your school to assess your practice through a process that is evidence-based and professionally rigorous.

A Rigorous Process

Equalitas is an accredited teacher training provider, and we will offer support as you collate your portfolio of evidence.

The process is designed to:

Confirm your readiness for QTS through classroom-based assessment
Support you in evidencing your strengths and areas of impact.
Align your practice to the Teachers’ Standards with integrity and depth
Provide structured feedback and final reporting, ready for QTS recommendation

Who is the Assessment Only route for?

You may be eligible for the Assessment Only route if you:

Are working as an unqualified teacher in a school in England
Hold a UK bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
Have GCSE Grade 4 / C (or equivalent) in English and Maths (and Science, for Primary candidates)
Have at least two years of whole-class teaching experience
Have worked in at least two schools as an unqualified teacher
Can demonstrate that you already meet all of the Teachers’ Standards
Have school or employer support for your application

The Assessment Only route to QTS is not a training programme, it is a rigorous assessment and validation process, supported by the Equalitas team throughout.

You will receive:

Online support to confirm readiness and complete a needs analysis
Access to the Equalitas’ VLE (Virtual Learning Environment)
Two assessment visits:
- Initial Visit
- Final Visit and QTS assessment
Full reporting and evidence collation
Structured support throughout the assessment period

Assessment Only Route – Cost and Funding

The Assessment Only route to QTS is not a training programme, it is a rigorous assessment and validation process, supported by the Equalitas team throughout. You will receive:

Assessment Only Route – Cost and Funding

The fees for Assessment Only process are paid by a candidate’s employing school. These consist of:

Preparation & Initial Visit: £1,000 + VAT
Assessment & Final Visit: £2,000 +VAT

Total: £3,000 (excluding VAT)

Optional Withdrawal Admin: £250
Additional Review visit (if deemed necessary) £500
