Early Years Teacher Training - Funding

Investing in Early Years Educators

At Equalitas, we believe transformation begins in the earliest years. Our Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT) programme supports early years settings in elevating their teams while raising the quality of education for children aged 0–5.

This is an employment-based programme, funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and designed for those already working in early years settings.

Employers benefit from fully funded training and a £7,000 employer incentive, which is paid in instalments throughout the academic year.

Trainees join our Community of Transformers: a cohort of professionals supported by Equalitas tutors, workplace mentors, and subject leads, united by a mission to raise standards from the very start of a child’s education.

Early Years Teacher Training: Fees & Funding Explained

Explore the information below to see how EYITT funding works for trainees and employers.

Course Fees and Funding
  • Course Fees: Fully funded by the Department for Education (DfE)
  • Employer Incentive: £7,000 paid directly to the trainee’s setting across the training year

The £7,000 DfE incentive is designed to help settings cover the cost of training a member of staff. It may be used to:

  • Provide supply cover during trainee absence
  • Fund salary enhancements or allocated non-contact time
  • Cover employment costs such as National Insurance
  • Support additional training or mentoring provision

Equalitas will support employers with all documentation required to access the incentive.

One Programme. One Purpose.

Trainee Early Years Teachers remain in their setting while studying part-time, applying training directly to their work with children. They receive weekly training from Equalitas tutors and workplace colleagues, building their skills through real-world practice and online learning.

Our programme creates confident, reflective Early Years Teachers, equipped to transform futures during the most formative stages of development.
