Early Years Teacher Training (EYITT)

Our EYITT programme is designed for graduates employed in an early years setting. Delivered online, you will gain Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) alongside your position of employment in just one academic year.
With expert-led training and reflective practice, you’ll gain the skills to become an effective Early Years Teacher and make a lasting impact on young learners.
Expert-Led Early Years Teacher Training
Our EYITT programme is fully online, led by Equalitas’ programme team and tutors.
This structure allows you to continue working in your early years setting, reflecting on the application of Equalitas’ expert-informed training throughout the year. You’ll apply learning directly to your everyday practice.

Course Details
- Programme length: 1 academic year
- Qualification: EYTS (Early Years Teacher Status)
- Delivery: 100% online, with dedicated Equalitas tutors
- Course fees: Fully funded by the Department for Education (DfE)
- £7,000 employer incentive for the trainee’s employer
- Next start date: October 2026
- Trainees study while employed in an early years setting
- Trainees are supported by Key Colleagues in their workplace
- Trainees gain practical experience working with babies, toddlers, young children, and reception-aged pupils
EYITT Eligibility
To enrol in the EYITT programme, you must meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree (from any area of study)
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science
- The right to work and study in the UK
- A position of employment within an early years setting
- Successful completion of an interview to confirm your suitability for the programme

Where you will train
While you train online, you’ll also be reflecting on your practice and applying the knowledge gained directly to your role in the setting. You will be supported by a Key Colleague in your workplace, ensuring you can meet the required teaching standards.

What EYTS Enables You to Do
Find out more
Achieving EYTS qualifies you to work as an Early Years Teacher in private nurseries and schools, and in reception classes at maintained schools and academies.
- Teach children aged 3-5 in nurseries, independent schools, and reception classes at maintained schools (with limitations).
- Work with Level 3 staff during your training, moving to Level 6 status once you achieve EYTS, expanding your responsibilities and qualifications.
With EYTS, you’ll be equipped to teach in early years settings, making a meaningful impact on children’s learning and development during their most formative years.
