At Equalitas, we partner with schools to deliver transformative Primary Teacher Training. Equalitas trainees teach in their placement school throughout the programme – applying expert-led training to their classroom practice.
We offer multiple funding routes, including School Direct (Salaried), School Direct (Tuition Fee), and the Teaching Apprenticeship Programme.
Each option supports schools in developing high-quality teachers while managing cost and workforce planning.
All Primary trainees join our Community of Transformers – a shared programme shaped by phase specialists and driven by our mission to improve education for every child.
Primary Teacher Training Routes: Fees & Funding Explained

School Direct (Salaried)
- Funding: Your school employs the trainee as an unqualified teacher and pays their salary.
- Fees: Tuition fees of £8,500 are paid by the school.
- Eligibility: Graduate trainees are employed full-time for one academic year. This route does not involve student loans.
School Direct (Tuition Fee)
- Fees: Tuition fees of £9,790 (inclusive of VAT) apply.
- Eligibility: The trainee is placed in your school and can apply for a tuition fee loan.
Teaching Apprenticeship Programme
- Funding: £9,000 in apprenticeship fees are paid using your school’s Apprenticeship Levy.
- Eligibility: Trainees are employed in your school for one academic year and receive a salary on the Unqualified Teacher Pay Scale.
One Programme. One Purpose.
All Primary trainees, regardless of funding route, join the same Equalitas-led primary cohort. They are supported by our Primary Phase Leads, subject tutors and school mentors, and trained to become confident, reflective education professionals.
